Trek to Harishchandra Gad
Harishchandra gad is located near borders of Ahmadnagar, Pune and Thane districts. It's part of dense Harishchandra - Kalsubai forest. You can find vast varieties of flora around here.
How to Reach here ?
There are 3 or 4 ways to reach the top.
1. Sadhale ghat -- highly technical and testing your endurance
2. Nalichi vaat -- highly technical and testing your endurance
3. Tolar Khinda from Khireshwar -- simple
4. Tolar Khinda from Rajur -- relatively harder than previous way.
For Khubi village route, actual trek starts from Khubi phata on Nagar - Kalyan highway, just before Malshej ghat. You can get direct bus upto Khubi phata from: Junnar, Otur, Alephata or even Narayangaon.
What you can see ?
1. Taramati Shikhar (peak)
2. Rohidas Shikhar (peak)
3. Kokan kada --- The Best
4. Kunda and pushkarini
5. Any many more
Can we stay stop overnight ?
Absolutely!!! There are few caves and Shivalay with plenty of water for drinking available throughout the year
Best time to Visit
You can visit this fort during any time of the year and enjoy the stay atop, but Oct-Feb is the best time. During rainy season, it's different feeling altogether, but then you may not be able to view the majestic view of Kokan-Kada. You should visit kokan-kada in winter to get dump-founded yourself!!!
My Visits to this fort:
I have visited this fort twice:-
1. 18-20th Oct 1995
2. 28th Feb to 2nd March 1998
Both times I went there from Khubi village via Tolar khinda. Now I am planning to go there from Nalichi vaat.
